Thread: Capacity 300 MB?

    Default Capacity 300 MB?
Is anyone else getting this after they jailbreak 1.1.1? I am starting to worry....

  2. #2
No worries. I had the same problem, and Stereo313 has the answer:

"you have to do this after you all all done. let me know if you cant figure it out

    STEP 7: CLEAN UP

You've now successfully jailbroken your iPhone and set up shop. Congratulations!

Before you can sync, you will need to remove the symlink you created:

    rm /var/root/Media
    mv /var/root/Media.old /var/root/Media

    That's it!

it takes the var/root/media file back to origanal.
to jail break it had to trik itunes by making a false media file the clean up step brings it back"

    didnt work for me

Hmm. What I did was to log into my iPhone with WinSCP after I had successfully completed all of the tutorial steps. Once in, I backed up the file tree so that the directory was: /
Then I opened the terminal, cut and pasted in:
    rm /var/root/Media
and hit 'excecute'. Then I cut and pasted in:
    mv /var/root/Media.old /var/root/Media
and hit 'execute'. Then I closed out of WinSCP and restarted my iPhone and my memory was back. Did you do all of that?

Sorry Justin, then I don't know what else to do. I wish I could be of more help.

  8. #7
That is the reason - listed above it should work if not do a resotre and start from scratch on the Jailbreak

AHH really dont want to but that seems to be the only way

There has to be another way if everything is working and winscp and the bsd is working

    Comman 'rm /var/root/Media'

You are missing a bsd system. Do you have installer up and running? If so then install the BSD subsystem, then you will be able to do what you need to do.

http://www.modmyi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9665 will explain more details about removing the sym link

http://www.modmyi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9667 if you read steps starting from where I wrote "DEVIATION TIME" in bold you'll get up and running.

If you're using windows just use putty for ssh from here: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/

also grap pscp.exe from the putty site and use that in place of scp as I have in my guide the syntax will be exactly the same otherwise so for example where I wrote:
    scp -r Installer.app root@<iphone IP>:/Applications
    just replace it with
    pscp -r Installer.app root@<iphone IP>:/Applications

run in win scp. press control t. enter command

if that dont work rename media backup. media

when i did it in iphoneinterface it said command not found. it works in winscp. you need to get rid of the false media files and just have a media file.

    worked for me! Thanks guys!

WinSCP, remove Media (shotcut), rename Mediaold to Media. Restart and abrakadabra!!! 7GB more!

  14. #13
What if I don't have a Media.old? I used the jailbreak.com website to jailbreak my phone, and looked in both Teminal and finder in /var/root, and only have /var/root/Media, /var/root/Library, /var/root/bin. If I remove /var/root/Media and have no Media.old I think I will be screwed.

If you used jailbreakme.com, you don't need to do this.

  16. #15
also remember guys now that your jailbroken and unlocked using anysim, if you expierence volume issues simply restore your phone and jailbreak it with your favorite method and your still unlocked, its really simply after you have unlocked once you dont have to do it again,.....and your volume issue will be solved..the restore does the best cleanup !!
