    what in the heck are you guys talking about? what do you use to chmod? program wise....

    chmod is a unix command, usually you ssh to the phone and execute the command from there.

    in piticular, you can use winscp, if you have a mac, they have it built in because of their *nix base, you can also use iphone native programs like squid.

    chmod is a permission set, for files so that the computer is 'allowed' to read write or execute, very similar to windows permissions. this is mainly used for security reasons.
