Thread: Unlocking Iphone 3G

    Okay.

Does not seem to have worked. I have done what you told me to. Used every USB port and new cable and will not work. Any other ideas? Is itunes meant to close when I run redsn0w?

If Redsnow encounters issues, it could leave the phone in a bad state. It's likely you need to start from the very beginning.

You didn't mention trying a different computer. It could help. Although after several failed attempts, it's best to start completely over

How do I get it out of DFU back to normal so I can retry right from the start?

Hold power + home for 5-10 secs. You'll hear the high-low computer sound as confirmation. Phone screen ... might ... quickly flash just before powering off.

Ok then it will be turned off and out of DFU correct?

Yes. When it's powered off - it's off.

Is Itunes meant to be open at all times while jailbreaking? As it closes for me could that be the problem? Also if there any downsides to using Jailbreakme method and could I use that instead if Redsn0w doesn't work?

Let iTunes do it's thing - doesn't matter. Just ignore it until needed. Jailbreakme is for iOS 4.3.3

But it needs to be open when I first open Redsn0w yeah?

As I said, if it's open don't close it. If it closes leave it alone unless you need it.

Ok. I finally did it this time. I am so grateful for all your help Mes. I'm one of these guys who makes sure they know everything before they do something hence the massive amount of questions.

Congratulations. No problem. It's best to ask questions first
