Default Upgrading 3.1.3 to any newer version without losing unlock
    Hey there
I recently purchased an 3gs 3.1.3 already jailbroken/unlocked, is there a way I can upgrade and reunlock or keep the unlock?

  2. #2
Yes, put in DFU mode and restore with a "pwned" firmware which has the baseband update removed. That part is very important. Here is one:
    IPHONE 3GS 4.3.3 CUSTOM FW
Then once the phone boots up, go to Cydia and install UltraSn0w which will unlock it for you.

Ok If u may I need to know a few things before I begin.

Question 1: Now I need to update the firmware to 4.3.3 (for example) but preserve the baseband/not update it so that I wont lose my unlock and jailbreak, is that right?

Question 2: The author in the other topic said:
Open itunes,it will tell you ,you have iphone in recovery mode
and need to update/restore.... DO NOT SIMPLY CLICK RESTORE!!! see below!!!!

4:YOU HAVE TO HOLD SHIFT WHILE CLICKING RESTORE

My question is: Im on Windows not Mac, pressing shift applies to Windows right?

    And Thank u

Yes, I think shift is for Windows, not Mac. You should see a file browser pop up for you to select your custom IPSW.
