    Default iphone 2G jailbreak | unlock 4.0
    hello mates!
    i'm from Portugal and i have a iphone 8G i think it's from the 1st generation...

    version 3.1 (7C144)
    model MA712LL
    modem firmware 04.05.04_G

this iphone was bought on other country, i think Canada so i'm using the 3.1 jailbreak and unlock to use the vodafone PT carrier...
i would like to know if it's possible to upgrade from 3.1 to ios 4.0, jailbreak and unlock...because some apps only run on 4.0
can anybody help me? wich tools?

whited00r is legit, it's basically a 3.1.3 FW modded out to look like 4.x FW (it still is programatically a 3.X firmware though, so don't expect to be able to run apps made for Apple FW 4.x on it =))

it is the closest thing you'll get to having 4.x on a 2g phone.

I tried it out on my 3g, it seemed to work ok... but i ended up going back to Apple 4.2.1 as the speed increase was not astounding enough for me to stay on a 3.x based firmware...

    Time for a new phone

It's that or deal with not being able to use iOS 4 apps. For real though, it's a good investment to upgrade to at least a 3GS
