Once they lose their contract with Apple you will see this become available.

I don't get it, how come every carrier can unlock iPhones but AT&T can't. Sure there isn't a way they can do it?

They can other than the iPhone it's in the apple contract

I'm sure it's possible, but they just simply won't.

I just read on xsellize that AT&T does in fact has the possibility to send imei numbers to Apple but just don't because its against their policy. So that's why I need an AT&T employee to do it for me :-)

    What about non-AT&T iPhones?

I have a UK iPhone that I can't even use and I am an AT&T customer.

Any way I could unlock that without hacks? What about other countries? I travel frequently

It depends on the carrier the phone is locked to whether they can unlock it for you. Contact them.

A lot of non AT&T iPhones can be officially unlocked by a carrier or third party. That's what bugs me the most. There are a lot of webshops which offer official unlocks for a lot of carriers but they never offer AT&T......

Wait until another carrier gets the phone over here. Then you will see this happening.

All the rumors are pointing to Verizon next year. But who knows...

I wonder if Apple will require them to keep prices at a higher level

Why would they require higher pricing? For the phones or the data?

Just wondering if AT&T had some sort of say if they indeed have a 5 year contract. I don't know. I guess that wouldn't be likely.

Anyway i can find out who the official carrier of the phone is?

I thought it was AT&T, but when i want to activate my phone with my sim, it wouldnt work. Come to find out, it's a UK phone

I get screwed when i try to go through the official channels.

Just trying to explore all options before I pony up and sign a new contract and get an Iphone 4
