Thread: Advice needed on O2 activation on jail broken 3GS.

Default Advice needed on O2 activation on jail broken 3GS.
    I need some help/advice please.

    I have a jail broken 3GS on 3.1.3 (sn0wbreeze), unlocked with Ultrasn0w.

This was bought on O2 pay as you go.

I never used the payg SIM that came with it, and don't have it. The phone was only activated by the jailbreak.

I need to get rid of the jailbreak as I need to send it in for a warranty repair (headphone remote has stopped working, headphones are fine).

If I reflash it, will it still be activated? If not can I activate it with any O2 sim card? I have a couple of payg O2 SIMS.

I don't care about losing the unlock or the ability to jailbreak it in the future but I do need it as a working O2 phone...

You can just restore back to official firmware and if the prepaid sim card is the official sim for the Iphone, you are good to go.

That is my problem. I don't have the official iPhone sim. I just have other O2 SIMs....

Well it would be a bit odd to go in without an activated phone wouldn't it?

Anyway, it appears any O2 SIM will do the trick as I just tried it!

    So all sorted.

    Thanks.

When you bring your Iphone in, they will probably activate it and test out your headphone, if it works, they will not exchange for you. Then you are stuck at 4.0.

Can't see it working, the headphones are fine on my iPhone 4 and iPad.

Not too worried about it being stuck on anything, it's probably going to be sold anyway. My 7 year old will just have to be content playing with my old 3G!

Sure it's worth a little less if it's not unlocked/jailbroken. But it's worth a lot less if the headphone jack doesn't work properly!
