Default should I throw my iPhone away?!
    hello.
I bought my iphone 3gs very cheap but stuck on emergency call.
this is what f0recast shows me.

    baseband:5.12.01
    bootloader: 6.4
    model: MC132
    firmware 3.1.3

can I even find out on what carrier is it locked!?
Can I at least hacktivate it?!
    thanks a lot in advance.

    I'd guess AT&T
Have they released the jailbreak in the app store yet?

thanks for the response, but what is your knowledge base?!

What are you trying to do? Did you do a clean restore? What is your carrier? We need a little more details to ensure that we can respond.

You can find out which carrier it is locked to by searching this forum for the listing.

You also need to find out if you have old/new bootrom.

In answer to your primary question, you should not throw the phone away.

YES! Throw it away...into my trashcan!

    lol

    Seriously; don't throw it away.

In the US, the phone WILL be locked to AT&T; if from outside the US, I have no clue.

Knowledge base = Apple/AT&T contractual agreement.

wow. I haven`t visited this post for a while. thanks for the answers.

well. I found out that it was sold in great britain.
    it has the new bootrom.
i`m trying to activate, jailbreak and unlock, but so far activation of the phone is what I want the most. I want to use it at least as an iPod.

    please help.

PS: I`m from romania, so I don`t have an activation card.

There is a chance its factory unlocked if it was sold in Great Britain. You need a sim card to activate it and if its factory unlocked any sim will work, otherwise you need to find an AT&T sim card to use for 2 minutes to activate it with.
Have they released the jailbreak in the app store yet?

The phone is only showing the connect to itunes and emergency call screen? You should put the AT&T sim in and plug it into itunes to activate it.

I`ve put the card in, connected to PC, started itunes, it displayed "connecting to itunes store", then ˙our sim card is not supported by the carrier".
the same as it displayed whit my vidafine sim.

PS this was my at&t card that came with my first 2g iphone. so it`s 2 years old. does it make a difference?!

    thanks again!

Restore your iPhone with the AT&T sim in. Let iTunes do its thing.

  21. #15
you probably need an o2 sim card from britain or something. does not sound like it's at&t. unfortunately there's not much you can do at this moment unless the shsh is saved (you can try to restore using saurik's server) to downgrade to 3.1.2. If it downgrades, you're on luck because you can unlock it but it will need to be tethered jailbreak (since its the new bootrom)

If it's from britain it will be locked to a carrier. Find out which one by searching this forum.

Only the Iphone 4 has been on sale unlocked.

Ok now's the tricky part since you know it's O2 ireland right and I confirm you're right by checking it, for my third post I'm hoping I can find a solution if you can't find a working sim to hacktivate you're device, in order you can jailbreak/unlock using spirit/ultrasnow.
Now google this (082927208410252955 O2 Ireland) that is the IMSI of O2 ireland.
Well you need at least to do some research on this and learn how to hactivate Itunes using a programmable sim.
I'm hoping you're next post is thanks A Lot again my iphone is jailbroken/unlocked CHEERS!!!!

it is a thanks. but programable sim cards ... it`s a little to much for me. I believe you need special hardware for that.
    thank you anyway.
