Default Quick help on upgrading to 3.1.2, jailbreaking, and unlocking
I'm currently jailbroken on 3.0 with the 04.26.08 baseband, on an iPhone 3GS. The goal is to upgrade to 3.1, jailbroken and unlocked. What is the safest way to go?

My thought is to restore through iTunes, with 3.1.2, with an official ipsw. I assume that would work, since I'm currently on 3.0 (7A341).

Then jailbreak using Spirit, activate using my AT&T sim, and then unlock it using BlackSn0w or UltraSn0w.

Any other tips? Or a better way to accomplish this?
    Thanks...

You can restore to 3.1.2 if you have 3.1.2 shsh on file with Cydia and unlock with Blacksn0w or Use CFW to do the trick.

Press Thanks if I answer your question.

Thanks, since I don't have the 3.1.2 shsh do I have other options? Whatabout restoring using a custom 3.1.3 ipsw without upgrading the baseband? Is that possible?

I take that back...when i go into Cydia, at the top it says:
This device has SHSHs on file for iPhone OS:
    3.0, 3.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3

Not sure how it has that, since I've never upgraded to any of the 3.1 versions... But if it does, it sounds like I can just download the standard 3.1.2 Firmware, modify my host file and restore it to 3.1.2. Is that right?

Thanks again! though i decided to go a slightly different route. I downloaded the custom 3.1.3 ipsw, which left my 04.26.08 baseband intact.

Worked flawlessly, and then I unlocked it using UltraSn0w

Phone is now ready to be sold, and I can't wait to get iPhone 4!
