Thread: This micro-SIM business...

    Default This micro-SIM business...
So, it looks like us "bootleggers" on T-mobile, T-mobile prepaid, and goPhone will have to wait a while before we can use the new iPhone 4G, if ever! Pretty sneaky move on Apple and AT&T's part to change up the game. I assume eventually that the micro-SIM will become the industry standard, but I assume that domestically this is the first, or one of the first, to do so.

But what does this mean for VZW and Sprint? Rumors were that iPhone was not going to renew its exclusivity contract with AT&T, but this move makes me wonder. Granted, SIM technology has nothing to do with CDMA, but to make such a drastic design change in interesting. I guess the only chance CDMA carriers have is a hybrid phone that does both or a CDMA model.

    We'll see...

AFAIK, just trim your SIM card down to size and it works.

Yep. All they did was lose the extra plastic around the guts of the sim.

Default Trimming sim to become a micro sim
Can someone maybe post some step by step pic on how to trim down a sim to work as a micro sim?

take a micro sim, place it on top of your existing sim, and trace it out. Then use an exacto knife to cut it out..

Tested in my iPad just for proof of concept.
The only thing I ask in return for helping, is that you click the thanks button, Thanks!
