Default Unlocking -- did I do it right?
Obviously I didn't, since it doesn't let me use the iPhone.

First, I restored to 3.1.3 (3.1.2 firmware file was rejected, but I heard that it makes no difference).
Then, I went into recovery mode.
Then, I ran redsn0w, plugged the iPhone and apparently everything went alright.
Then after the iPhone resets, it complains about "no SIM card installed".
When I insert my SIM card and input the pin, just it shows the recovery mode screen with the emergency slider.

    What went wrong?

Okay, so that was apparently the act of jailbreaking. I'd like for someone to link me a tutorial for jailbreaking and unlocking that will work on 3.1.3 with the new bootrom. All I can find are posts from early February when it wasn't possible yet.

EDIT -- it might help to know that when I got the iPhone it was unlocked and jailbroken by means that perished when the phone was restarted.

There is not an unlock or jailbreak for 3.1.3 new bootrom. All you had to do was connect it to your computer, re-run blackra1n and the iphone would have booted.
