Thread: Question about iPhone 3G

    Default Question about iPhone 3G
Hey guys, I'm a former iPhone user turned BB user, looking to come back to iPhones. My friend's boss is selling me his iPhone 3G but he has never jailbroken and unlocked his iPhone before but I'm assuming he's updated to generally the latest versions. My question is this:

If he has updated up to 3.0.. would I be able to still unlock it?

This is assuming that he updated to an official 3.0 apple iphone 3g update, and not a custom firmware from redsn0w and whatnot.

As far as I can tell, it shouldn't be able to unlock (based on my previous experiences from reading about 2.2.1), but I'm really hoping someone here can prove me wrong about this, since I'm getting a pretty good/decent price on it.

    Yes - You are fine.
A 3G is easy to fix what ever state it is in - however......
    if possible...
    - Do not upgrade to 3.1 (yet)
    - Do not use iTunes 9 (yet)

Read under "GUIDES" here and you will be fine.
Also, redsn0w is a good place
    Do hope that helps
