Thread: Unlocking a new version

    Default Unlocking a new version
I am currently running 1.1.1 and have been since the day I got my iphone (sometime in October). It has been jailbroken/unlocked.

I have been hesitant to upgrade to 1.1.2 (especially until 1.1.3 public jailbreak) because I do not understand how to correctly do this considering I have already unlocked my phone (and effectively damaged the seczone by unlocking it???)

My question is what steps do I need to take to successfully upgrade and unlock my phone again?

Depends on the method you unlocked. If you used AnySIM, you'll need to revirginse. If you used IPSF, you're good to go, it doesn't affect the baseband.
Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

I think I used anySim.... (I can't believe I really can't remember that well, I know I used anySim on my friends phone).

So can I just use Virginize Pack v0.4 to Revirginize?

Also what is IPSF? And how can it unlock the phone without affecting the baseband?

I've upgraded my phone from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 (I downgraded cause I'm and iWorld does not have some of the countries I'm going to), and so have many others since 1.1.3's release.

Anyway, you have to install Oktoprep and then follow these guides to upgrade to 1.1.2...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that you only need to virginise if you used AnySIM pre-1.1.1? Meaning, that if you are on 1.0.2 and used AnySIM to unlock, you have to virginse before upgrading to 1.1.1 (followed by jailbreaking and unlocking). I was under the impression that no virginising is necessary if upgrading to 1.1.2 from 1.1.1 (unless you IMEI has been changed to 0049xxx from unlocking like some have)? Am I wrong? Would love to know definitively.

    thanks,
