16 - 20 kbs is pretty normal. It maxes out around thirty with a few spikes up to 50.

i can get spikes of up to 220kbs sometimes. usually it hovers around the 120-175 kbs area. even with a low signal i can still get around 20kbs to 70kbs. i have the $20 internet plan also.

i actually have T-mobile i am on the $20.00 total internet add on. I live in the Washington DC area if that helps. I just did 3 tests back to back:
    #1 156 Kbs
    #2 209 Kbs
    #3 136 Kbs

My connection was slow at first when I added on the Internet plan. I gave T-mobile a call and they gave me the whole speech about unsupported phones not designed for T-mobile. I told them I understand, the tech lady said give me a sec, a minute later she said it should be a little better. Couple of minutes later, my connection was alot faster. Im guessing they "refreshed " my signal or something. Thats what I thought happened.

It also depends on the area you are in, becuase speeds vary depending on the tower and traffic
