Thread: T-Mobile Without Data Plan

    Default T-Mobile Without Data Plan
I am going to be purchasing an unlocked and jailbroken 2G iphone and I of course have T-mobile. I had heard that when you insert the SIM card it will automatically charge me for data or set me with a data plan. Is this true and is there anyway that I can get it without a data plan etc? Thank you!

T-Mobile is not AT&T (thank God)!! They won't automatically tack on a data plan. In fact, it's perfectly acceptable to use an iPhone on their network without data. I would disable data with SBSettings toggle, but it doesn't really matter. The 'Cellular Data Network' settings must be set properly to access their data network.

T-mobile will be AT&T soon :/ I know t-mobile claims it will remain an independent company for those of us who have plans before the merger is completed, but who knows what kind of pull AT&T will have. There's certainly a possibility that we'll all get screwed (e.g. those of us who are using t-zones unlimited data on an iphone, etc).

Well, the merger could be a good thing if AT&T let's existing t-mobile customers use AT&T towers without messing with any of their plans and truly allows t-mobile to run as an independent company for existing t-mobile customers. We'd probably even get 3G on our iphones, since we would be allowed on the current AT&T data network. But I get the feeling AT&T isn't going to play that nicely.
