Default Want to know if this is posible for iPhone 2G, 3G, and 3Gs
    Hello All,
I want to upgrade my father to a iPhone but after him using the iTouch I see that he is able to manage the iPhone.

He has a Grandfather 5000 anytime minutes plan and since he does not use or want TXT/MMS or Data. He wants to keep it simple. So here is my question.

    If I get him a iPhone 2G, 3G, or 3Gs.
after Unlocking and Jailbreak, on T-Mobile Carrier.

Can he continue using the same plan with only using Wi-Fi for data use?

This is because if he changes his plan the plan that he has is GONE FOREVER and can not return to it.
No Messaging Plan or No Data Plan can me added.

    Thanks.

Yes, he can keep the plan and use the phone as voice-only. He will not get charged for data unless he gets a plan, so don't worry about that. He can still use the phone on wifi.

As far as the phones go, the 2G and 3G can be unlocked with no issues. If you get a 3GS, you have to make sure it either has the old bootrom, or has been previously jailbroken in order to run the newest firmware. The seller might be able to tell you this information.

^ ditto. Recommend getting the 3G cuz 3GS is rather complicated. If you do choose 3GS, like adp said, definitely MAKE SURE FOR SURE the phone has the old bootrom and has been jailbroken before for ease. New boot phones can give problems even if jailbroken before, it's a headache that should be avoided -.-
