Thread: can I iphone 4 no contract?

Default can I iphone 4 no contract?
Well it looks like I'm going to have a tough time getting the iphone 4. My credit isn't good enough to start a AT&T contract without a deposit. They asked for 800 dollars per line as a security down payment. I was going to get one for me and my brother but not looking to dish out 2 grand for phones.(800x2+199.99x2).

My new plan is to some how buy the phones at full retail costs and wait for an unlock to come out so I can just throw it on my current T-Mobile service. That way I can avoid renewing any contracts or paying any early termination fees.

I keep reading around the net saying that the phone is available for PAYG no contract service. I called a AT&T rep today and they said that the iPhone has not and will never be available as a PAYG phone.

Does anyone know any other way to get the phone at full price? I've seen ebay but they are jacking up the price to thousands.

Ebay or some other listing site is about it.

Craigslist. Or ask AT&T for a prepaid iPhone plan but still pay full retail price for the phone. Not sure how that works tho...I read from AT&T/Apple that there is a month-to-month service for iP4 if paid for in full.

Yeah, thats what I've been reading. That they sell the iphone 4 with no contract. Month to month billing cancel anytime without any fees. But the rep I talked to said that iphones cannot be used for that type of service.

Go to the Apple store, if you have one in your area. Just tell them you don't want to activate the phone there, you want to take it with you unopened. They'll probably give you the business about the full retail price of the phone.
