If you truly wanna turn off cellular data the get SBSettings from cydia. I usually get 4 hours of usage time before my battery dies on my 3G, which is 1.5 years old. Cellular data always burns out your battery. Wifi should be just fine though. I found out the most battery hogging background service is the mail, especially if you have it checking email every 5 minutes...

Btw usage time meaning time your phone actually being used, not standby time. To see what i'm talking about, fully charge your phone, use it normally for a day until battery almost runs out. Go to settings-general-usage and it will tell you how many hours of usage and standby you got
