Thread: T-mobile prepaid and AT&T 3G

    Default T-mobile prepaid and AT&T 3G
    I am using an iPhone.

Would I be able to get AT&T 3G service if I was able to get an AT&T connection in places where T-mobile is unavailable? or would it only be EDGE?

I have T-mobile prepaid and I know the iPhone can't use T-mobile's 3G due to the different frequencies.

    Very unlikely.

AT&T tends to allow roaming (if there's an agreement with the other carrier) on 2G, but is very restrictive of roaming on 3G. This is primarily due to the idea that AT&T and a small group of regional/rural carriers use AT&T's version of 3G.

T-Mobile and AT&T have cut back their roaming agreements, so it's already unlikely you'll get onto a AT&T signal unless you're in an area that is devoid of T-Mobile coverage.

    Hope this info is useful.

I have tested this myself and GenesisHD is correct, the EDGE (2g) will work just fine however you will not be able to pick up the 3G.
If I helped you hit the "Thanks"!
