Default Would 3G beat these speeds? 274 kbps EDGE
Hey I'm 18 I just got the iphone maybe 2 weeks ago on tmobile since at&t wouldn't approve me and I just heard of the new 3g iphone honestly it doesn't look like its too much of an improvement over the new iphone. The demo they should at wwdc or whatever that was called made it look fast then I picked up my iphone and went to the same site they show on apple.com and it loaded just as fast as the 3g. I tested my internet on my iphone using iphone speed test. Here are the results

I'm running the Total internet package for 19.99 and my APN is set to wap.voicestream.com I live in Fort Worth Texas. Anyone else getting these speeds? I really could not be happier it blows away any AT&T iphone that I've used.

    iPhone 3G hands-on - Engadget

according to the quick hands on, "We did a quick data test -- at our location we went from 104Kbps on the EDGE iPhone to 215Kbps on the 3G mode" if that speed test is accurate then you are above current att 3g network. however, i am pretty sure att isn't done prepping their network for the iphone 3g. it would probably be faster after the release date.

It does, yeah. After I took the first screen shot (did it in landscape) I forgot to zoom in so the 320x480 picture was horrible after I sftp'd it to my machine. Turned on WiFi to sftp it, so I went back to Safari, zoomed in, snapshot. WiFi sftp'd back over. Here's another one I just did though, actually turned out better! This time I zoomed in before taking the screenshot *forehead slap*

I came, I saw, I forgot what the hell I was there for.

I really think that this new 3g iphone is a complete waste of peoples money. At least for people that live in larger cities ? It seems like me being in Fort Worth Dallas area I get amazing speeds over edge and kcrmson is getting 3g speeds in LA

I think the 3g is only going to be a worth while upgrade if you're in the middle of nowhere lol I mean honestly I wouldn't trade this iphone for the new one I love my aluminum backing instead of that cheap freaking plastic.

I'm in Yorkshire UK and mine can vary from as low as 70kbs to this I get at home 327kbs! For the browsing I need to do on the move and away from WiFi then Edge is more then fast enough, at the worst it is still quicker then the dial up internet I grew up with (until a few years ago infact!)
