Default ThemeEngine Tutorial: Theming Assets.car files
This is a tutorial on my experience using ThemeEngine for the last couple weeks. If you discover more options that are useful, please let us know so we can add it to this guide!

    System requirements:
    OSX Yosemite
    Photoshop

    - First off, download ThemeEngine from HERE
    - Install ThemeEngine
    - Obtain Assests.car files from HERE

    Let’s Begin:
    - Right-Click the Assets.car file you’d like to modify
    - Choose ‘Open With’ -> ThemeEngine.app
    -open.png

    - Find the image’s Title in the left window of ThemeEngine

    Now you have some options…
    1. If you already have images saved, you can Drag & Drop that image (from Finder) onto the Icon inside ThemeEngine’s right window.
    -drag.png

    2. If you don’t have saved images, you can:
    • Click on the Icon in ThemeEngine’s right window
    • Select ’Actions’ from ThemeEngine’s Menu Bar
    • ‘Send to Photoshop’

    -send.png

Once you’re new image is created, you can:
    - Save it to your computer then use Step 1 above
    OR
    • Click on the Icon in ThemeEngine’s right window
    • Select ’Actions’ from ThemeEngine’s Menu Bar
    • ‘Receive from Photoshop’

    -receive.png

The default image should now have changed!!!

*For good measure, you can double-click that icon in the right window and choose ‘Save’ but, in the end, you’re still going to have to ‘Save’ the entire file from ThemeEngine’s Menu Bar (ThemeEngine.app/File - Save)*
    -save-1.png

Once everything is to your liking, SAVE your file and try out your new Assets.car Theme!!!
    -save-final.png

    Tips and Tricks:
ThemeEngine is a beta program, therefore, it has nuances about it that need addressing!
    SAVE ● SAVE ● SAVE -
ThemeEngine doesn’t do a great job of keeping itself up-to-date while you’re working. I, typically, edit 4 images at a time then Save and Close. Beyond that, the program may or may not have saved all your work…

    So...edit 4 pix, Save/Close/Reopen
***IF Drag & Drop doesn't work anymore, you'll need to Reboot your computer ***

Drag & Drop vs 'Receive from Photoshop' -
The images from Drag & Drop are significantly different from ‘live’ Photoshop images.
    - Photoshop - Image is sharp BUT pixelated. No transparency
    - Drag & Drop - Image is smooth BUT not extremely sharp. Allows transparency.

Battery Images need to be 60px high for @3x images or 40px high for @2x images -
If your Battery image isn’t 60px or 40px high, it will squish the Battery Insides!?!?
    -size.png

@3x Images are the only images you need to theme for the 6 and 6+. UPDATE: @2x devices require theming the icons that are 40px tall. Still waiting to see if the 20px image is still needed...

Common locations for Assets.car files -
    Springboard - /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app
    Telephone - /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/TelephonyUI.framework
UIKit - /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/Artwork.bundle ***NOTE: this location changed from iOS 7 and below***

Thanks thazsar. Looks like Photoshop is indeed a system requirement.
The theme in my posts is 3 4 All, by Sk37cH.

The numerous versions released, and infinite versatility, beats IconOmatic mods. By quality.

Thanks a lot, thazsar. ThemeEngine crashes on my Mac each time I try to receive from Photoshop and drag and drop doesn't seem to have any effect.
Thanks a lot to Sk37cH, DjeTouch, Alfroggy, Maxone, Jusephe and Meth. My phone would be boring without them.

Have you rebooted your computer, yet?

Yes, a couple times. Alfroggy pointed me to your tutorial and I was excited only to run into crashes. Sure it's something on my end though. Thank you for helping.

Photoshop CC. That could be the issue.

I was able to get the drag and drop method working. I'm not entirely sure how or what did it. Maybe just rebooting the computer a couple times. I didn't do anything differently. Unfortunately, still unable to receive from Photoshop (ThemeEngine crashes). It's not that big a deal, but anyone else using Photoshop CC having similar issues? Thank you.

Well, I'm glad you've got it semi-'up and running!' Not sure about ThemeEngine playing nice w/ other versions of PS but you're input is appreciated!!!
