    Default Help needed with modded AnalogClock iWidget
    Hey guys!

    So I've been trying to mod the "AnalogClock" widget that comes with iWidgets. I've already created some of the images like the background. Also, the original widget uses PDFs for the hour, min, and sec hands. I edited the code to load PNGs instead and placed the required PNGs in the folder. Everything works and loads fine. I only have one issue. The hour, min, and sec hands look pixelated (blurry), SPECIALLY when the hand is in a diagonal position. I realize that because of the nature of digital images being made up of pixels, I will never have a completely smooth diagonal line regardless of it's angle. But I have designed a battery guage widget in which the hang that shows the battery level displays nice and crisp. I want to achieve the same here. I looked through the HTML, CSS and Javascript code looking for the line of code where it loads these hands to see if I can find what's going on. The only time the hands file names are referenced are in the Javascript, and the code uses a simple "(w , h)" after the variable tag to dictate the dimensions of the hands.

    For example, for the seconds, the code looks like this:

    Code:
    var sechand = new Image (10, 55);
    sechand.src = 'Images/secs.png';
    sechand.onload = imageLoaded;
    In the past, the way I have dealt with low quality images loading has always been to create hi-res images and use code to scale it down. Since the iP display is hi-res/ppi, the images looked nice and crisp even when scaled down since the image being loaded was still hi-res. However, that doesn't seem to be working here.

    I have 3 main questions:

    1a) What is the purpose of using PDFs as images for the hands as apposed to PNGs?

    1b) Was it a mistake for me to use PDFs instead of PNGs?

    2) How can I get the hands to display in better quality?

    I would truly appreciate any help! Here are some screen shots...

    -img_0271.png-img_0272.png

    NOTE: I added a border tag to each element to help with it's identification during testing. I included a folder with color swatches and the corresponding HEX code to easy reference.

    Here is a link to my modded version of the widget for testing.

    That's the purpose of PDFs being used here.

    Save your images as PDFs.
    The theme in my posts is 3 4 All, by Sk37cH.

    The numerous versions released, and infinite versatility, beats IconOmatic mods. By quality.

    Yes. As Sk37ch has explained in the past, creating a vector image that's saved as a PDF allows the image to be manipulated without loss of clarity.

    For example, on 1-20-15 I posted some screenshots of signals I created in PS and then Ai. Unfortunately, I had to convert the PDF image to .png so I could adjust the size a little BUT you can easily see the difference between the two.

    So do you already have an idea of what you want it to look like? Also, do you know how to use Photoshop?

    Literally have just created this account and I really want to start creating (themeing??) my own icons for one of the Themes I bought that doesn't "Mask?" the all of my icons. I'm a complete and total noob that needs to start at square 1. I apologize in advance if this isn't the right thread and I know that millions have asked before myself. However, I would truly appreciate any and all help, advice, tips or directions you can point me in to find the right information that I need. So far I've done a bit of reading and I've got a couple programs like iFile, AppInfo, Notepad++. Was reading some previous pages of this thread and see that I will need Photoshop (no experience with any of these programs). Thank you all in advance ^-^

    I read this one as well and the other too hyperlinks you mentioned, very good reads. Do you know of any tutorial videos on YT for iOS 8? I think if I were able to just watch/follow along with one icon making, I could do it myself after a bit of practice.
