Thread: Theme making help?

    Default Theme making help?
I have some icons, 120 by 120 pixels, png-formatted. But here's the kick, I can't get them to work. I tried three times in vain to use summerboard mode, regular, and just improv. THe summerboard mode was the most hopeful, but it made the icons HUGE. Better than not affecting the icons at all I guess.... I am on iOS 5/6 (two devices). I'll attach the images, but can you help me make a winterboard/summerboard theme with them? I will be MOST GRATEFUL if you do. Thank you.

They need to be 114x114 but that's w/ an @2x.png extension. Otherwise, it's half that size for non-retina

Well I got that, but I'm not that good with it, could you direct me to a tutorial or something? Also, just so we can integrate this into one thread, where can I find MMI's guide on theming, I used the search function and all, but can't seem to find it. Sorry I am not a super hardcore jailbreaker >.<

Glad you found the guide! Whatever image editing software you have 'should' have an image size option in there. Using that, you can resize it to whatever you want.

I have, after about an hour, made them all iOS6-friendly. The only problem is that they are all square, (with very sharp edges), not the soft-edged ones from normal icons. Refer to the attached screenshot:

In that guide, you'll find something about icon masks. You'll need to create an AppIconMask that is the same shape as iOS 7's icons. You might even be able to Google it and then resize it to 114x114. Place it in the correct location (possibly: com.apple.mobileicons.framework) and it should work!

Here's a link to the original. I DO NOT know if it's labeled correctly...
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/06tp0c6gb1...phone.png?dl=0

    - Look in:
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileIcons to find the correct label.
    - Resize the pic I sent you and apply the correct label
    - In your theme's Bundles folder, create that com.apple... folder I posted above
    - Place your icon in there and reapply the theme via Winterboard

So I resize the attachment you sent to 114 x 114, but shouldn't I resize it to 57 x 57 like I did for the icons?

Oh, sorry. Yes, resize to 57x57 since you're using non-retina

Okay, so this is too complicated. If you happen to have time in the future, please consider adapting this to ios 6 for me. Thanks.

Don't use the old fashioned Icons folder Summberboard is slow and laggy. Use the Bundles directory to find your bundle id and the icon name use AppInfo and for your settings app icons use Icon Thief both free in Cydia. Also if you AppIconMask/Shadow/Overlay quickest way to theme icons is ThemeIconMaker also free in Cydia.
