Thread: Custom Unlock Sound [How]

  1. #1
    Default Custom Unlock Sound [How]
I recorded a sound that I want to be placed as my Unlock sound, and then another for my close [or w/e it's called] sound.
iPhone 3G 2.1 SSH with Winscp

    Two questions:
    1. In order to do this, do I have to install it as a 'permanent' installation?
    2. Or, is there a way to add it into Winterboard, like you do with Battery's?

It can be done through winterboard. You need to create the folder "UISounds", and place your sound files in it. They must be in .caf format, and must be named lock.caf, and unlock.caf.

I have not personally tried this, so I can't really say, but I've heard that you can turn mp3's into .caf's by simply changing the file extension. I've also heard that this doesnt work and that you need to convert the files to .aiff and then rename the extension to .caf to make it work.

edit:mp3 method does not work. Just tried.
2nd edit: I can't get the .aiff method to work either.
Last edit, I promise: I can't get it to work at all, but everything I've read up till now says it should, so just go ahead and try.

Create a folder in your winterboard theme named UISounds
    unlock.caf
    lock.caf

    other way...
rename file to "lock" and "unlock"
use itunes to convert to .aiff
    rename extension ".aiff" to ".caf"
    go to system/library/audio/uisounds
    back up "lock.caf" and "unlock.caf"
    then replace file
you don't have to restart just respring using bossprefs

^except with that method you can't change the sounds back to normal without sshing in.

actually you don't have to ssh, just use iphonelist(windows)

    navigate to system/library/audio/uisounds

    drag and drop "stock sounds"
