Thread: Foreign language issues with Summerboard

Default Foreign language issues with Summerboard
At first I didn't know what to think of the emails I was getting about missing icons in PlainJain, but just now, thanks to a user in Sweden, I got it sussed. The issue is that foreign language versions of iPhone and iPod Touch have different app names for the default apps.

I want to know the fastest work around for this (not switching to English) in terms of renaming icons? renaming apps? futzing with a text file? ... so that I can tell the people who contact me what the easiest fastest option is while maintaining their preferred language preference.

Also curious to know if there is any work being done to get around this via Summerboard?

That's the file you rename apps with.

You could also tell them to rename the icons. All they have to do is make the icons match what's on the springboard. Since a lot of people don't know how to do anything on their own and have to have everything done for them through installer they can get mobilefinder and rename the icons through the phone so they don't have to winscp.

I tell you what, if you can figure out what the German names are (complete with letter tense) for the default app icons, I'll add them to PlainJain.

If you can list the German names that match the English apps, I'll try to write a Theme to German converter.
