Default Add 60 secs mpg4 as ringtone to non-jailbroken phone
    Hi all,

I did try my best to first search but not sure if I could find anything specific to what I need. What I have is

    1) mpg4 format song that's 1 minute long
    2) non-jailbroken phone

I tried the 'rename to m4r' trick, it DOES show on my iTunes as "ringtones" but when I go to my iPhone part and go to the ringtones section, the song isn't there.

Can anyone help please? Thanks in advance!

Sorry I wasn't clear. I did follow that largely to at least get iTunes to play the m4r and that file is under the "Ringtones" category under "Library". However, I can't get it to appear under the "Ringtones" category under "iPhone" and therefore it won't be synced to the iPhone. I tried dragging it to the iPhone, to iPhone's "Ringtones" folder, nothing helped.

Is it because it's too long? It's slightly more than 1 minute long.

    Thanks

if its the newest iTunes and youre not jailbroken try clicking on the ringtones tab under your iphone screen and tell it to sync all

    Good suggestion
But nope didn't work... it's so strange that it just won't show up on the iPhone's bit when it's obviously in iTunes already...

Any other things I can try?

ok sooo use the pics below to make sure you're following what I'm saying and tell me where you get lost..
1- click ringtones in the bar on the left of the screen
2- make sure the ringtone you want is in that box

3-click on your iPhone in the bar on the left of the screen
4-then click ringtones on the top bar
5- make sure sync ringtones and sync all are selected
    6- click apply

i'm having the same problem. ringtones showing in "Ringtones" in itunes library on the left, have sync all ringtones selected on iphone sync screen. do the sync, and it doesn't transfer over the ringtones. perhaps 9.2 and iOS4 broke this process?

    i have itunes 9.2 (windows 7) and iPhone 3GS 32gig

as a side note, i use this same exact process with itunes 9.2 (windows 7) and iPhone 4 32gig

i've had a couple that wouldn't work, and they were all pretty long. i believe itunes won't put a ringtone much over 30 seconds onto your phone.

Yes, I made and synced a custom ringtone in this manner, and I had to keep re-editing it to make it shorter until it finally did sync to the phone. Length is a determining factor.
