    Thats my assumption also.

I took a ringtone that I purchased and put it into the /Library/Media Rigtones folder where all the standard rings are and it came up on the list and played it fine.

Took a different file and placed it there and it also showed up on the list, but it would not play. So, its looking for something.

One thing I noticed, was when I copied the marimba.m4r from my phone to my computer with SCP. and tried to play it, it gave me the security notice about my computer not having the authority to play the file.

So is it possible the file needs to have some kind of DRM/security on it for the phone to play it? Perhaps they are protecting it somehow when you purchase it, and the phone is looking for that?

I don' know much about the protection, so not sure if there is a way to see what its attributes are or add it to another file?

Not much use for us PC folks though. They could greatly increase their revenue if they released a PC version also, I'd buy it.

I'm sure its just a matter of time before its uncovered how to do it though.
