Whatever version you choose, tiny umbrella + tss server must be running to authorize the old version restore

Ok. So, need to build a CFW for the version I choose and restore via iTunes while TU+TSS is running, correct? Do I select Hackivation and download Ultrasn0w via Cydia, afterwrad?

    You've been reading Good job

Select hactivate if you don't have an authorized sim. Everything else is perfect.

Oops, forgot one thing. After you're finished with iTunes restore and before Ultrasnow, the iPad 6.15.0 baseband need to be installed. The current baseband is not unlock able.

I know the rules!! Haha. I actually just found out it's a 3G, not a 3GS. So, with the BB where it is, I get the feeling that this phone was jailbroken at 4.2.1 before....hmmm...Does this change anything?

A bit. The 3G doesn't need Tiny Umbrella for 4.2.1 because it's the latest / last version.

Hang on. I find this odd: phone shows 3.1.3(7E18), which is 3GS firmware(Nevermind), but TU shows that 3G SHSH's are backed up up and the device model shows iPhone 3G. Is this normal?

    7E18 3.1.3 were valid for both 3G and 3GS.

Use f0recast as another check for phone type.

Also, the 3G will never have SHSH blobs for any 3.x iOS

    3G.

So, can I just use Redsn0w to JB at 3.1.3 and DL UltrasnOw via Cydia, then?

Yes .... IF the baseband is less than or equal to 5.13.x

Else the iPad BB is needed.

I'll definitely need use the iPad BB, as the BB is currently at 05.15.04. I'll have to update to 4.2.1 first though, right?

Unfortunately yes ... Need a two step process.

Up to 4.2.1, jb, install iPad BB. Then back to 3.1.3 if desired.

    Then Ultrasnow to unlock.

I'll just jump to official 4.2.1, JB with redsn0w and install iPad BB, at the same time. Then I'll Ultrasn0w unlock. Sound right?

    Sounds good.
I would recommend using redsnow twice. 1st to jb (install Cydia), 2nd time to install iPad BB.

Verify iOS version + modem firmware.
Ultrasn0w installed and two or three reboots.

Sometimes it may take as long as 30 min in a strong signal area.

Reset network settings and airplane toggle may help.

Just had to wait, actually! It took about 5-10 minutes, but it finally grabbed the network. Thank you for your help. Again! :-)
