    Default How do you change the root password?
    I just JB my iPhone4 on 4.3.3 with redsn0w and want to change my root pw. everything i have read says to use moibleterminal, which i downloaded with cydia, but whenever i attempt to open it, it crashes. Phone doesnt crash but the app wont open. any advice?

    The standard mobileterminal app on Cydia doesn't work on later iOS'. Add repo and install the version of mobileterminal from there.

    You can also SSH to your iPhone from a desktop client...such as Putty.

    You are Prone to problems leaving your password as “alpine” after a jailbreak. Once you allow SSH connections to your phone, essentially anyone can SSH in and , if you dont change your password, it will be “alpine”. Dont leave it because someone can get in and delete all files.

    How can I change my SSH Root password?

    Cydia>> Manage>> Sources>> Edit>>> Add
    Add Your favorite repo
    Now in Cydia search for Terminal for iOS4
    Open Terminal and follow
    Type in “su root” without the quotes and hit RETURN.
    Type the root password “alpine” andhit RETURN.
    You are now logged in as root. Type “passwd” and touch RETURN.
    Create a password. You won’t see anything being entered. Touch return and the iPhone will ask you to retype the new password.
    Type Exit

    You will Thank me for saving your phone from a potential backdoor. This is really an essential must-have for your JailBroke iPhone 4
