    Default iPhone 4.2.1 Bricked?
Hey guys I have an iPhone 3G on 4.2.1 with iPad BB Jailbroken with Redsn0w.

Don't ask me what happened, but now it just won't boot up...stick on the apple logo!

so, I tried booting tethered, and it just stays on the pineapple logo..

so, I cooked up some custom firmware with sn0wbreeze and iTunes just WON'T install it... keep getting error 40 (which I know is associated with Hacktivation, I chose not to hacktivate)

I put it into pwnd DFU and all that jazz but I just can't get anywhere!

I can either stay staring at a pineapple, or the connect to iTunes logo....

    very very frustrating!!!

    any ideas?

    and I'm running windows 7...

    please help guys!

Make another custom firmware, choose expert mode and make sure you deselect hactivation. Use redsnow to enter pwned DFU instead of using snowbreeze or ireb. Then restore to the custom firmware.

If you have access to a Mac using pwnage tool to make a custom 4.2.1 will give you less issues.

Ya, doesn't sound like a big issue to me. Pwnage tool is the preferred tool for this though. Snowbreeze was a bit buggy back then, it has come a long way since then though.

It's really the iPad baseband that has screwed this all up, right?

Not really, the ipad baseband just makes it a bit more difficult restoring to 4.2.1. You could still restore to a regular 4.1 or 3.1.3 no problem and just use tiny umbrella to exit recovery after the 1015 error.

Could you give me directions for downgrading?

also, this restore seems to be going great except it's been stuck on "verifying iPhone restore" for about 5 mins!

Looks like it's almost done too!

    should I panic? :P

You just need to re-jailbreak and then install ultrasnow to unlock.

What firmware did you end up restoring to?
