    Default iPod+redsn0w=freeze
Gonna make this short and sweet. Trying to use redsn0w on iPod touch and when it gets to rebooting with the apple logo, it freezes. What are some likely causes?

Anybody at all? Come on, don't be shy...

Are you using the correct firmware?

    iPod1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw First Gen iTouch

    iPod2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw Second Gen iTouch

    Other issues: Hardware? (water damage)

I don't think it's even going to work. Do you know any easier ways? iPod touch 2g, 2.2.1, 5H11a. Trying to do it on a vista but my itunes is on a xp. I do have itunes on the vista though.

If you are using the current version of redsn0w (8.0), I believe you need to first upgrade the touch in iTunes to 3.0

Another trick I have heard of is to unplug the USB for 3 seconds when it freezes at reboot.

Right when it gets to the apple logo?

If you are stuck at the first "Waiting for reboot" step in redsnow, just unplug your iPod and plug it back in. It should work. If you are stuck at the second, restart the process, and on the last step of DFU (hold down home for 30 seconds) DONT LET GO. Keep holding it, and it should get past that step. Hold it until you get to "Uploading ramdisk" and then you can let go.

I'll try that once my iPod is done restoring in itunes. Yet another unsuccessful attempt. I'll let you know if your idea works. If it doesn't, do you know anything else? If not, I'm just going to give up. It's not that imporatnt to do anyways.

Mine froze on the second waiting for reboot. Worked perfectly on my iPhone 3g and iPod Touch 1g both times I had to do it.
