Default Anyone who is having problems with Shift+Restore
I finally figured this out. I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I think this is going to help alot of people.

This is for Windows users, vista 32 bit

    Simply run iTunes as administrator.
    - That means right click ur itunes program icon and press the option 'run as administrator'
    - Typically speaking the option doesn't appear for shortcuts so open up ur itunes program folder:
Computer > Local Disk C > Program Files > Itunes
Then right click on the file thats named 'Itunes.exe'; then click 'run as administrator'
wait for it to load and go through all the notifications, sometimes it says theme has been changed and vista home premium or business etc. looks like vista basic. Don't worry, now use the shift + restore option.
This will only work once, and then you will have to close iTunes and reopen as administrator. Also I did this in DFU mode, but I'm not sure its necessary

Mac is Option-Restore. Shift-Restore is the same as just clicking.
