Unhappy PWNAGE Jailbreak on ALREADY UNLOCKED iPhone from AUSTRALIA
    Hi all,

I'm from Australia, and like many other countries, we can buy iPhone3G's outright and get them UNLOCKED. Hence, I only want the PWNAGE tool to Jailbreak my ALREADY UNLOCKED iPhone3G (so i can install non-apple approved 3rd party apps). I'm worried that it might muck around with my iPhone3G UNLOCKED state. Can I just jailbreak and not muck around with the unlock stuff? Will the pwnage tool brick my ALREADY UNLOCKED iPhone3G?
    I'm worried

PS: I'm noob to all this stuff atm.

    Thanks.

You think they gonna release the jailbreak? I dont need to unlock.

Of course they will release it....but they have to get a solid working method developed first. And no....we dont know when that will be.

Probably has a bunch to do with the fact that the pwnage tool isn't out yet for 2.0.

Since you don't know what unlock was used, it might be best to do everything (act, unlock, jailbreak) with the pwnage tool when its out. That way you know how to fix things when it gets hanged up.

To unlock iphone3G I bought the phone outright (on a pre-paid plan) and had to ring the carrier (Optus Australia).
They got me to type in a special code/phone number so that the iphone3G spat out my iphone ID number (a long 15-20 digit long number) which i read back to them.
Then they said they 'would put in a request for unlock...apple has to unlock it...in about 10 working days when i plug my iphone3G into my computer and sync with iTunes I will get a message come up saying "congratulations your iphone3G is unlocked"'

Does that help? do you know 'what' unlock was used now?

You don't have to unlock it if you don't want. When building the IPSW, you just don't select any of this:

It might not look exactly like that in Pwnage 2.0, but it will look close.

The IPSW is like the system software for the iPhones and iPod touches For example, the 2.0 firmware is named iPhone1,2_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw.
