i boght an iphone in april from ebay
the phone was originally on o2 but it had been unlocked so i used my orange sim card in it

unfortunately yesterday my house was broken into and a large qauntity of electrical goods were stolen including my iphone and its box

i have contacted orange who stated tehy cannot blacklist the iphone only o2 can

the iphone does not have a sim card inserted into it

The only way o2 (or any other network) can block the phone is by blocking the imei number which is on the box. if you dont have the imei number, the provider will be able to retrieve it from any previous calls you made from the phone.

    hope this helps.

what i sthe point in posting a reply to my question that doesnt help

for your info the phone was in the box without a sim because i had not used it for a while

i have tried ringing o2 with the imei of the phone (which i had to retrieve from itunes)
but they stated they cannot do anything as a sim card was not inserted

looks like somebody has a stolen iphone that is basically legit
    thanks for your help mopplecrump
