Default Finally MMS Coming to iPhone! (For Real)
So it looks like Apple’s planning on holding an event for iPhone 3.0 OS March 17th along with showing off an updated SDK. This would fit nicely with their brief history of having a preview software event followed by a hardware refresh in June/July. As far as what we’ve been told of iPhone 3.0, here’s what we’ve got:

    MMS
    Tethering via Bluetooth and USB

We’re working hard to get some more information and know that our list above isn’t exactly thorough, but hey, it’s something! Plus, there has to be copy and paste, right?

I wouldn't say "For Real" because MMS was rumored to be in the 2.0 update but never happened. Way to add to the hype machine.

As if. That means that AT&T will have to actual let people activate it on their phones and they seem to love to say no too much.

Yeah.. it's rumored for EVERY iPhone update... So far it's been wrong.

We'll just to wait and see, but don't get your hopes up. Apple enjoys crushing them.

I'll believe it when I see it. If it doesn't happen, oh well, apple never surprise me...

I'm happy with SwirlyMMS, even if it did cost me £8

8Gig > 1.0 FW (dead spot on screen)
    8Gig > 1.0.2 FW (broken vibrate after a while)
    8Gig > 1.1.2>1.1.4>2.0>2.1>2.2(Jonny5 Still alive)

Wasn't AT&T planning on letting people use the iPhone for tethering some time this year? I can see tethering being one of the features released in 3.0.

But I'm crossing my fingers for 3.0 that it will include MMS. Other than hardware upgrades and A2DP, this is all I want. I have everything else via Cydia, but just never was able to get Swirly to work.

For the next iPhone, I'd love to see better battery life, front facing camera for conferencing (despite all you people that say this is overrated, I would actually use this a lot), and perhaps a 3.0 MP camera to go along with the 3.0 firmware.

BTW, what would the next iPhone be called? It's the 3rd gen iPhone, but iPhone 3G is already taken. Can't be 4G because it's not the 4th and won't work on 4G network. Apple better have a good name for the next one or they really screwed up. 3.5G just doesn't cut it. I'll hate to have to refer to my next iPhone as the iPhone 3.5G.

lol I'm extremely excited! MMS was the biggest thing I needed. I always hated when people said "just use email". Then you have to know all your contacts' email addresses and they all have to have phones that have email on them. That's a lot less convenient than MMS. :/
