What a beautiful mind of artist, you have. You proved me wrong again. I am gonna get used to that soon. Your sketches help to reconsider greatly.
I am not sure how do it it programmatically, but I am entering new enhancement ticket. Thanks for help.

    Update:
Even though, I can overlay Arial 10pt, it wouldn't have this beautiful hallow effect. Meaning My fonts are solid, so I can only draw an image on graphics context. I will need these characters and letters as separate images.

Solid white would suck greatly on white cells

Okay, I will make one overlay png that is transparent except for the text, since that will be faster than placing individual pngs for all the text items individually. I'll send you something shortly.

    So here it is:

This file should be layered on top of the board and below the pieces.

Caissa...another great app for the iPhone. I'm now playing it as much as I have been playing Blackjack, and loving it. Thanks ioffe, great app! And once again, thanks also to Armadillo for jumping in on yet another great project with his wonderful graphic work.

I'm already a huge fan and small supporter of Armadillo, and now a new fan of yours, ioffe. But, where oh where is your donate button? Maybe I missed it, but let me know how a little support can be sent your way, and perhaps others who have missed it will do so as well.

Thanks again, and keep up the great work. I can hardly wait for the upcoming changes.

EDIT: DUH! I finally saw the www.caissa.us link and clicked it ( now where's the smiley for the embarrassed face at? ) :-)

Thanks a lot for kind words. With your contribution, you put the State of Wisconsin onto 3rd place in our "generosity contest for chess lovers"

I have $45 available now. Too much for team meetings sandwiches, but not nearly enough for Xserve box, which I will need in about 3 weeks.

wow, ioffe & armadillo you make a great team!!!

    Fantastic work, thank you!

With v0.85a I had the following issue:
I was trying to castle, but the king would just not move. After three tries there was a message about 'exceeded amount of tries' (or something like that) and then it went back to springboard.

Sorry if this is a bit vague - I'll try & reproduce it...

  12. #90
if you can report an issue, best way to do is via

    http://byteeasy.com/projects/newticket

also what would really help if you could copy/paste logs and attach plist file. That way I can retrace every move and click you made.

Firstly I would like express my deepest appreciation to Maestro Armadillo,

I managed to get boards previews using CoreGraphics api (always wanted to learn Quarz 2D for Mac OS X). Took 3 days and voila.

That way it will work with any boards and will save gigabytes in traffic for ste.

Very, very nice!!!! I assume you could do the same to the pieces?

We could save more gigabytes if we used jpgs for the boards (no transparency needed).

One thing I like about the GNU Chess competition is the way it moves pieces; I do think Caissa should implement something along those lines. Caissa is still a better chess app, IMHO, but that's one area it has better implementation.

Yep, added this pic, and it's WAY better loading image!

Damn, I KNEW I should have checked for updates before heading off to work this morning. I'm still running the 0.86-alpha ioffe sent me yesterday. Guess I'll hafta install it when I get home this evening.

Call me crazy, but I *still* don't see any updaye for Caissa. Caissa.us shows a 0.87-alpha with cool new features, but how the heck do I get it? I added the caissa.us repo, and I have the other one ioffe sent me, but neither is showing any updates.

I am very excited about 0.87 release. We addressed many bugs, hugely enhanced engine and middleware. Caissa supports xboard protocol now(in near future, we will prebuild 4 most popular engines, and distribute 'em via caissa addons framework). There would be 0.87b release for contributors, friends and press. There are some things, that I am particularly excited. Stay tuned for updates.

Are Armadillo's pieces available for download? I looked at Reinner's Site and saw nothing related to this project.

  21. #98
They are available from STE's in Misc section:

Caissa boards and pieces by Armadillo
Caissa boards addon by Eurisko has some neat boards too.

Ok, I have managed to get my pieces / boards from armadillo. I can`t seem to find pieces from this site armadillo posted:

    http://www.modmyi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24386

The 10th picture / ones standing on the pink-grey board.

Those pieces look similar to "AS Alpha Black & White", from Armadillo`s boards & pieces pack,.. but they are not the same!

Can someone please tell me where can they be found?

    Greetings, David.
