Thread: application request / google reader notification

Default application request / google reader notification
i use google reader for rss, and love the integration with my desktop via reader notifier. in my menubar, i am shown how many unread messages i have, and it works great.

google's web version of reader is adequate - it's not great, but it's adequate, at least for now. what i would like is a springboard icon that launches the mobile reader, and also displays the count of unread news.

getting a google reader icon in the springboard is a cake walk, using the handy: http://www.jonsthoughtsoneverything.com/iphone_apper/ now for the biggie - can someone figure out how to query the server and update the icon?

i suppose this same utility could be applied to other mobile apps too.

Exactly what i'm looking for as well. The mobile RSS reader is so buggy I've given up on using it. It crashes all the time, forcing me to completely reboot, and slashdot links take me to the wrong articles.

If I find the time, I might write it myself, but I've never coded for this platform...
