Thread: MobileChat not working on 1.1.3?

Default MobileChat not working on 1.1.3?
If I try to download MobileChat it freezes during the installation, and when I click on it on my home screen it crashes almost instantly. Any ideas?

  2. #2
Is not just MobileChat, but also Apollo doesn't work. Worst, these two will not be getting updates, so if you want to use them go back to 1.1.2 or 1.1.1.

I think we are just better off waiting for the SDK and having JiveTalk become available as a real chat app.

It works with Nate Trues jailbreak. The dev team break sucks.

It crashes when installing because you do no have enough space for it. Install BossTools and free up some space.
To fix the login problems on MobileChat and Apollo on 1.1.3, just append this to the bottom of your "/ect/host".

    Code:
    64.12.161.185 login.oscar.aol.com
    64.12.161.185 login.messaging.aol.com

Awesome, awesome find! Kudos to you Zal! I already knew about BossTools fix (a must for anyone using 1.1.3). But the Apollo login problem was making me seriously considering going back to 1.1.2 since I use it all the time when I am one the road.

Now I think, I am happy. I got all my apps working.

    Do this:
Open up an FTP program (I'm on a Mac and use Transmit) and go to the main folder structure. You will see the following folders:
    (1) Applications (actually an alias or shortcut of it if you use BossTools as you should),
    (2) bin
    (3) cores
    (4) dev
    (5) etc (also an alias or shortcut)
    (6) Library
    (7) mach
. . . . and so on and so on.

The folder you want to get into is the "etc" folder. Open that up and you will see a small text file called "hosts" Just open that up in a simple text editor like "BBedit or Simpletext (Mac) or Notepad (PC) and add that copy (that Zal91 posted) at the end of that text file.

Do NOT, I repeat NOT use Microsoft Word to edit this text file as Word puts in all kinds of formatting crap that can really screw it up.

    That's it.

You might want to make a backup copy of that "hosts" file in case you screw it up.

    But that's it.

This fix works for AIM, but I can't seem to connect to MSN Messenger with it. It reports that it is unable to authenticate. Any ideas?

    Fantastic, worked like a charm.

  18. #15
Uh how would I go about making it work on a PC? Anyone?

I think iBrickr should be able to do it on a PC.

That is, the downloading and uploading the file portion of the instructions.

  21. #18
i couldnt understand i can find the host and how do we do it on pc???

Um. You download that file, open it with Notepad (or Wordpad?), add the code to the end of the host file, and save. Afterwards, you upload the hosts file back to /etc.

And make sure you don't accidentally save hosts as hosts.txt or something like that.

Hmm. I understand the instructions...but while a couple of people have confirmed that the fix works, I can't get it to work for some reason.

Does WordPad also, like Microsoft Word, put in formatting crap?
