I went back and forth on installing this, I am so glad I didn't.

Guys who are currently experiencing Preference related bugs and already have it installed or in the half-uninstalled limbo:...

You have two options to fix this. The preference file that causes this is /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist. You can either edit out whatever is giving you problems, or you can delete the file and fix all the problems at the same time, but loosing some settings and alarms.

I was able to uninstall fine. I installed and uninstalled like 5 times trying to see if I liked this or the extended prefrences 1.3.1. I stuck with 0.3 because it had more features but 1.3.1 is a lot cleaner. By the way 1.3.1 is on the BLAZE ultimite pro repo (the free one).

    Hi guys,

I kinda have the same problem as many here:
1/ I installed Extended Preferences from Installer yesterday,
    2/ I saw the '9:42 AM" bug
3/ I tried to uninstall and have the "main script execution failed" issue
4/ I cannot re-install because it's not anymore on Installer...

I didn't understand what I should do to uninstall properly Extended Preferences...
Could anybody explain step by step what should be done?
It seems to be usefull to al lot of people...

Big big thanks in advance for your help! :-)

    Regards,

    Regards,
At this point, there's not a lot you CAN do. It's possible to "remove" it manually, but that doesn't seem to undo the settings changes made. What I've found out so far:

You can copy over the "backup" of the stock preferences.app; the backup copy is located in /private/var/root/Library/, set the permissions (using SSH or whatever it is you normally use), and then restart Springboard. This will get you your stock Preferences back so that ytou can use it to make normal changes.

Next, you can SSH into your iPhone, copy the files RemotePackages.plist and LocalPackages.plist over from the installer.app folder located in /private/var/root/Library/; make a backup just in case you screw something up, then open the files in (preferably) an HTML editor (as I've found that works best, since they format as XML files), and search for the following:

Delete that whole section (including the DICT statements at the beginning and end) from BOTH files, save the files, then using SSH or whatever you normally use, copy them back to your iPhone (either overwriting the ones there, or replacing them if you renamed them on the iPhone as a backup.) This will remove the "uninstall" entry for it from the installer.app so that if/when it's released again, you can re-install it if you so choose.

As for restoring the default settings (as in prior to installing this), well, I don't know. IIRC I read a few posts earlier you could delete a file for prefs, and it would re-create it, but not sure of the validity of that statement nor the consequences of doing so.

HotStuff2 : thanks for your detailed answer!

In fact, before your reply, I tried something: I deleted the /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist file.

    Seems working fine since then....

i was having similar problems with this application except i managed to successfully uninstall the extended preferences, which left me with the static time issue and also an issue where the screen does not lock when holding it up to your ear during calls. i fixed the static time issue by deleting the /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist file but the auto-lock feature during calls no longer works which is probably even more annoying because my check pushes the mute button on me during calls!!! does anyone know how to resolve this issue??

    thanx in advance!!

I installed Advanced Preferences 0.3 from Skylar (found on installer), and it seems to work much better, and allowed me to turn off the battery percentage option. Doesn't seem to cause issues like this one did, so I'll stick with that one.

  19. #118
I had issues with this as well (dissapearing settings icon) so I reinstalled BSD and the icon is back and working fine without the extras added. The extended preferences is still in 'uninstall' in Installer thought.

So is this still down right now? I had to restore my phone and went looking for this "must have" app only to find it missing T_T

  21. #120
Stay tuned, I have got quite a few bugs worked out already, including the 9:42 AM one. Apparently, if you don't have a fake time specified, the iPhone will default to that for some reason. Nonetheless, it's fixed. Also, the cut off dock problem is fixed. There is one more thing, then I have to work on the source file for the tweak, to find out why people are getting 'main script execution failed'
