Default Has BSD been replaced by Cydia
In the last few months, I was forced to use a Blackberry for work, because of the 3G speeds, I'm willing to carrying around two devices. I haven't been around MMi for a few months, however I've tried to find a few BSD subsystems thread. My question, has BSD been obsolete since the firmware 2.0 jailbreak. It'll be great to see everything on Cydia because I felt the BSD was a little buggy, or was it just me.

The BSD Subsystem from Installer was definitely deprecated. The BSD Subsystem that's part of Cydia (whether you like it or not) is more solid and right now the only thing available. And yes, passwd does work with Cydia's BSD just like before.
I came, I saw, I forgot what the hell I was there for.
