    Default Problem with terminal (sh)
    Hi
I recently upgraded my iPhone to 1.1.1, and now I've a new problem.
I can't get shell access to my phone! when I ssh into my phone using ssh root@[my ip], I get the shell prompt -sh-3.2# but the moment I type something, the connection closes.
I even tried using Term-vt100 in the iPhone itself, and the same thing happens, I'll get a shell prompt, but the moment I type something, it closes and I get a [process completed] message.
    what can I do?

I'm having the exact same problem with mine.

Found your post in searching for an answer, hopefully someone has seen (and hopefully fixed) this issue before.

Me too... same thing after updating to 1.1.1

Someone around here said you have to create a new account on the Mac and redo the installation. Still trying to figure out how that makes a difference.

I reinstalled the BSD Subsystem "twice" and got it fixed... don't know why the first reinstall didn't fix the problem... that was when I posted this message. today I tried reinstalling again and it worked!

Are you using OpenSSH or sshify?

I first installed ssh using iNdependence (I guess it uses sshify) but then disabled it using UICTL and installed OpenSSH 'cause I needed the client there! everything is working fine right now.

try deleting your ssh file on osx in ~/.ssh/

i forget what its called but its prob the only file in there. it stores the passkeys.

also this folder is hidden by default.

Tried that, makes no difference. Also, doesn't explain the behavior of why Terminal on the iPhone itself also fails.

Yup. Tried both BSD's, from installer and then NateTrue's BSD

THE BSDS IN INSTALLER ARE THE WRONG ONES. YOU NEED THE SPECIAL BSD MADE FOR 1.1.1 .. you cant use any of the ones from installer. thats prob causing your probs

You said the BSDs in the installer are the working ones, but you can't use the ones in the installer. Where do you get the special BSDs for 1.1.1?

EDIT: Sorry, read that wrong. Where do you get the new BSD's?

if you use ijailbreak it puts it on for you i think.. i dont have a direct link to them.

You can get BSD-Base and BSD-Extra from http://iphone.natetrue.com/

But I am using BSD 1. from Installer.app 3.0 without problems (of course, I haven't done too much with it).

Ya, unfortunately, like I said in this thread I've already installed Nate's BSD 2.0, same problems. It's confounding. I can log into the iPhone using SFTP, I just can't go to the command line.

I did have this issue on 1.1.1 too [process completed] but reinstalling BSD Subsystem (1.5) via Installer did solve it
