Default WhiteD00R: iOS4 on iPhone 2g and iPod Touch 1st Gen
One of the major downfalls of the iOS4 announcement is that all first gen devices would not receive the update. Recently though, a project named WhiteD00R has ported it by taking apart previous firmwares and editing the firmware to work on first gen devices.

This brings many pros and cons for example: You can now run any app that is meant for iOS4 and not have to worry about new apps that only run on it. However, you lack some of the basic things of iOS4 such as Folders, Multitasking, but this can be easily fixed with a jailbreak allowing you to just use categories, and stick to the program you've been on since you've bought your iPod.

NOTICE: Please remember that this is a BETA, expect things to get better from here, but just know that soon enough unhindered iOS4 on first gen devices will be far from unheard of!
