That was possible with the Spirit port that won't ever be released b/c it contains Apple code. They have to look for a new jailbreak.

I think they are hoping to modify spirit to work with 4.0. Which is incorporated into part of the pwned4life exploit.

Um... they did modify Spirit to work with 4.0... that's how he gained root access. In it's current form it uses Apple code which they cannot release to the public. As for pwn4life... that's Geohot's latest headline with two follow ups saying he's not working on a jailbreak and he doesn't even own an iPhone 4. There is no documentation that would suggest he's shared this exploit with anyone much less tested on a new device.

Any explanation why Apple's code cannot be removed, pwned, etc.?

    Congrats....can not wait.
