Here in the UK up to a few years ago all mobile phone contracts were for 12 months, they've gradually sneaked up so 18 months is now the norm and 24 month contracts are becoming far more common, especially on the iPhone.

The good news is one company is bucking the trend
Your local friendly Tesco is now selling the iPhone 4 on 12 month contracts and the price plans seem competitive too.

Tesco use the O2 network (which is a shame as it's nowhere near as good as T-Mobile's).

I'll wait and see what T-Mobile will offer me but Tesco does look tempting.

I wonder if they'll do an iPhone in blue and white stripes....
