    Default iTunes replacement program
Has anyone thought about creating a new program as a replacement to iTunes so that people can use it in the same way as iTunes but for jailbreaking and for installing applications outside of the App Store.

A few good features to this kind of iTunes replacement program would be:-
use it to jailbreak the iPhone / iPod Touch.

use the App Management feature like in iTunes 9 for jailbroken Apps.

Integrate a page into the program using Cyder or some program similar to install sources and download Cydia Applications straight to the computer and sync with the device.

Design the program so that you can restore to newer and older iPhone / iPod Touch firmwares without errors.

I'm sure that the dev team or someone with such programming capabilities could do something like this and it would be widely used in the jailbreak community but just how possible is it to do.

Just a thought, anyone else feel the same?

Totally agree - I would even pay for it.

    I just HATE iTunes
    Do hope that helps

hack you checked Rock Your Phone Installation ? been out for a while.
ok you can't do the restoring process but that requires making a complete unpacker. something that will take a while
Being an i can be a lot of pressure. you have to live right up to the small point.

I would have thought that making an "unpacker" would be something the dev team could easily do seeing that they already make the pwnage tool which already takes apart the .ipsw file and edits and rebuilds it.

Isn't it just extracting the .ipsw file and transferring it's contents to the iPhone in specific locations?

Anyway, I'm no programmer but seeing what these guys have already accomplished I don't think this thing is far away, hope so anyway.

The Dev Team won't do this - If you think it's that easy do it yourself!
Asd for Rock Your Phone - I wouldn't let that near my phone!

    But it's your choice.

Ok Confucious, somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!!!

I was actually trying to say something nice about the dev team like what they have accomplished but you go and turn the post to a sour note.

    Sad you.

    You think I'm sad?

You're the one that says the Dev Team should do unrealistic things.....

i have had a positive experience with Rock Your Phone and like the GUI a lot. has performed better than Cydia.

not slamming Cydia as i love it but Rock Your Phone did a great job.

It would be nice to have something like that but I don't see it ever happening.

I tried Rock Your Phone yesterday and it looks great so a big part of the idea is already done and all it would need is incorporating some other programs into one complete program that would do it all.

I'm sure there is a huge desire out there for this kind of program.
