If you want to install it manually, make sure you are using the newest version of iPHUC:
    http://code.google.com/p/iphuc/

    cd /Applications/MobilePhone.app
    putfile BarDiarler_Sel.png

And you're still using jailbreak??? Here's what I do to connect manually to my phone:

    1. Plug it in
    2. Open Terminal and go to my iPhone folder
    3. Type ./iphuc
    4. Type setafc com.apple.afc2
    5. I have full access to my phone, no jailbreak, rebooting. No messing putting the Services.plist file back on the phone.

If you have installed Breezy or iBrickr or AppTapp, I'm sure you can use the new method too. These applications do all the dirty work for you.

    n/p

    Download the new iPHUC
Make a new folder on your Mac, in your home folder, call it iPhone
Extract and copy the new iphuc file into your iPhone folder
    Launch terminal (on your Mac)
Type cd now just drag your iphone folder into the terminal window
    Press enter
You'll now be in the iPhone folder where iphuc is located
Have your phone connected and iTunes / iPhoto shutdown
    Type ./iphuc
You see some stuff on the screen
Now type setafc com.apple.afc2 and press enter
You should not see any errors, if you do simply type the ./iphuc command again

Once you are connected, you have to use terminal commands to move around, like cd /Applications to go to the Applications folder.

To copy a file simply cd /<full path> and press enter
Type putfile <add a space> and drag the file you want to copy into the Terminal window and then press enter.

Click the Finder icon and it "should" open in your "home" folder. It's where all your stuff is, Music, Documents, Pictures, etc.
