Default A Thinner Apple TV is Rumored to Make an Appearance at WWDC 2015 This Summer

We are now getting our first rumors of what we could expect this Summer at WWDC 2015, starting with the Apple TV.

The latest report, which comes from Buzzfeed's John Paczkowski, claims that a refresh of the Apple TV is very possible this Summer, as indicated by Apple's new "starting at $69" price tag for the device.

A refreshed Apple TV will more than likely have a much thinner case, utilizing Apple's more compact logic board technology that was first used in the new fan-less MacBook to make room for the larger battery while keeping the machine thin. The device could also feature a new remote design too.

Moreover, the new Apple TV is also slated get a spec bump to a new A8 chip for processing power, which is the new chip currently powering Apple's most recent handsets, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Reportedly, the hardware isn't the only thing getting upgraded; the report also details improvements to the device's software, which would give the Apple TV access to Siri, as well as a possible new App Store with an SDK for developers to make third-party applications for the Apple TV. This would finally give the Apple TV a wider use instead of being closed off to the pre-installed applications Apple has restricted to it since day one.

If the Apple TV gets redesigned with these new features, would you grab one?

I have been waiting for a new hardware upgrade before I buy an Apple TV. They don't need a yearly refresh, but they are definitely due for an upgrade.

All I want is Sky Sports a la carte channel on TV for me to get one.

Hope they do make the move to support 4K output so they can smash the half-arsed 4K players like the Nuvola NP-1 that looks like an ATV rip off in design.

More power would be nice. Please keep it simple and efficient. We don't want an iphone connected to a TV :-)
iMessage or facetime can look nice, but not receiving a call/message when you are focused on a movie ..

Apple if you EVER want me to purchase another Apple TV then you'd better put a hard drive in it. I don't want to stream anything. I love my first gen Apple TV and 2 TB external HDD. It works just fine.
    Hmm...

Didn't know the gen 1 supported external drives/content.

Hook your 2TB drive to your computer instead and then you can still access the same content from your Apple TV. I don't understand why people would only want their content available through their TV if they have so many other devices they might want to access it through: computers, tablets, and phones.
