Default Apple Reportedly Offers to Share Data with its TV Service's Programming Partners

The Cupertino California company has reportedly offered to partially open up its customer data to content owners if they sign on to its new streaming service initiative. This marks a turn for the company which is otherwise known for looking down upon sharing information with partners. According to the New York Post, content owners will be able to receive data on "who [Apple's] viewers are, what they watch and when they watch it.” The source continued by stating the following regarding the matter:

"They're allowing a lot more decision-making by the content owner. It's up to you, whatever you guys want to do" during partnership discussions.
If the information is in fact true, the move would be quite a change as Apple is famously controlling and protective of its relationship with its customers. App Store developers frequently tend to complain about their lack of access to similar customer data.

When it comes to Apple’s streaming service, previous reports suggest that the Cupertino California company is targeting a price between $30 and $40 per month though some even go as far as placing it at around $20 per month. Content owners will reportedly be receiving rates similar to those paid by traditional cable providers. We’ll have to see how the whole thing turns out when more concrete evidence presents itself.

Doesn't everyone hate Google for sharing their data? This sounds as if Apple are going to the same slippery slope. Why can't these companies understand that we want to keep our data private?
