Apple's online digital content stores are experiencing an extended downtime Wednesday morning and afternoon for unknown reasons. Apple's online System Status Web page confirms these issues.

The issue is affecting the App Store, Mac App Store, iBooks Store, and the iTunes Store, although issues with Apple's other services, such as iCloud, appear to be fixed as of this writing. Unfortunately, the issue with the digital content stores remains as of this writing.

The issue is making it hard for users of the App Store to download the applications they are interested in downloading. We experienced this issue ourselves trying to download the all-new Nokia HERE Maps application for iOS; we continued to receive the "unavailable in the U.S. App Store" prompt each time we attempted to visit the download link, which is a symptom of the offline App Store.

We will continue to keep you updated on this issue, so stay tuned for the latest!
