For close to a decade, it's been one of the best-known and most trusted tech news sites in the world, routinely covering or breaking news related to Apple, iOS, and the full spectrum of players across the mobile ecosystem. But Gigaom's future, unfortunately, is now in doubt.

Late Monday, Gigaom's management team posted a brief note expressing gratitude to its readers and addressing the site's future -- a future that is uncertain.

"Gigaom recently became unable to pay its creditors in full at this time," the short note reads. "As a result, the company is working with its creditors that have rights to all of the company’s assets as their collateral."

For now, the note concludes, "all operations have ceased." The team readily admits that they do not know what the lenders "intend to do with the assets or if there will be any future operations using those assets."

We're told the company does not plan to file bankruptcy as of this writing.
